I've been involved with birth for 35 years now and licensed as a midwife in AZ since 1987. I've also worked as a nurse on labor and delivery. I have four children myself, all born at home, and one grandson.

I have two books published. My second one, Amazing Birth Stories, came out December 2006. You can check my website for information on the books and other information helpful for birthing families.

I also have received a wonderful book review in the Midwifery Today Magazine.

    Global Midwifery

    (480) 871-9723 pager

Global midwifery has three midwives working together. I (Wendi) am the main midwife, meaning, I am usually at all prenatal, birth and postpartum visits. Ginger Trudgen is my primary partner and Sue Disilvestro backs us up for the “just in cases”. We feel it is very important to have 2 licensed midwives at every birth. An apprentice midwife will also be at the birth.

Our services include preconception counseling, comprehensive personalized prenatal care, labor and birth in your home (including waterbirth if desired), 6 weeks of postpartum visits, well woman care, extensive newborn exams and availability to you for questions and concerns 24/7.  The first initial exam is free of charge.

Our passion is to empower women with knowledge and encouragement to make informed decisions that will lead to a happy and healthy pregnancy and birth!

She received her midwifery education through National College of Midwifery and completed her internship at Womancare Midwifery Center. She received her breastfeeding counselor certification in 2001 through Central Arizona College and teaches breastfeeding education classes. Deana previously enjoyed working in a hospital obstetric ward and newborn nursery as a nursing assistant. She is a member of Arizona Association of Midwives and Midwives Alliance of North America. Deana is married and the mother of four children, all of whom were home-schooled. In her time off she is active in her church, especially with outreach ministry and loves spending time with her four grandchildren.

Mary Ann Baul, AASM, LM, RN, CPM, has been a licensed midwife since 1982, practicing in Flagstaff. She has an Associate of Applied Science in Midwifery from Northland Pioneer College and an Associate of Nursing from University of the State of New York. She is the Executive Director of Midwifery Education Accreditation Council, a federally recognized agency that accredits schools for midwives in the United States. She has served as president and is a member of the Arizona Association of Midwives. She is also a member of Midwives Alliance of North America, National Association of Certified Professional Midwives, and Citizens for Midwifery. Mary Ann is married, the mother of one son, and a native of Flagstaff with nine brothers and sisters. When she gets an occasional day off, she loves hiking, gourmet vegetarian cooking, and most of all being with her family.

Sierra was licensed in Arizona in 2004 and received her national certification from the North American Registry of Midwives in 2005. She began studying midwifery after the birth of her nephew in 1997. After graduating from Northern Arizona University with a BS in Chemistry in 2000, Sierra began her apprenticeship with midwives in Prescott. During that time period, she taught Chemistry at Yavapai College. She moved back to Flagstaff in 2003 to complete her studies at Womancare Midwifery Center. She is a member of Arizona Association of Midwives as well as Midwives Alliance of North America. She will be working towards a MS in Midwifery. She enjoys vacations when she gets them and great Arizona hiking. Sierra is married and happily awaiting the moment when a little one will be brought into her life—at home.

Our group of three midwives serves the women and families of Northern Arizona and you can see more about our clinic at Woman Care Midwifery.

A Special Delivery Childbirth Services and Supplies

    (623) 486-2229

Carol Denny was born in Redondo Beach, California. She grew up in Arizona, and resides in Glendale. She has been married since 1983. Carol has six children that she teaches at home. Her hobbies include music, writing, and crafts. She attended Glendale Community College's nursing program. Carol is a Christian and attends New Life Community Church in Peoria.

She became interested in homebirth because of her own experiences with traditional hospital births. She became a doula (labor assistant) in 1989. Having her first homebirth in 1991, she became convinced of the benefits of homebirth for both mother and baby. She believes that she was called to become a midwife and began her training in 1995. She studied and apprenticed under two respected midwives. She graduated from Ancient Art School of Midwifery. Since beginning her own practice in 1997, she has educated women, helped them to understand their choices, and to achieve a satisfying birth experience. She has delivered over 300 babies.
